A Slow Burn Film w/ an Explosive & Satisfying Ending (by anythinghorrorscott) |
THE CORRIDOR, directed by Evan Kelly and written by Josh MacDonald completely caught me off guard. Its description led me to believe that this was your typical friends-gather-in-the-woods-and-die flick. What I wasn't expecting was getting a wholly original horror film with sci-fi overtones, great acting, and a really intelligent script. The film opens by putting us in the middle of a "situation." Tyler Stephen Chambers is crouched down in a linen closet with a bloodied face looking at a dead woman laying in the hallway floor. His friends come over and he attacks them with a <more> |
A wonderful surprise (by gw-250-463510) |
Saw this on Netflix knowing nothing about it, put it in the queue and watched it . . and as I did, I felt a steadily growing delight. This is one of those 'little' horror films that sneaks up on you....starts with a fairly reliable premise a guy's bonding weekend and lets it develop for a while. And then with the discovery of the titular area, pushes the premise further, and further, and lets it twist and grope into all sorts of dark areas.Suffice to say: really well written, well acted, and well shot. A lovely and genuinely creepy discovery, and the best Canadian horror <more> |
A Pure Gem that no Horror,Thriller or SciFi fan of artistic films should miss! (by DataDream) |
This is hands down one of the most inventive, creative and disturbing films I have seen in a very long time. It is in the same instant beautiful and repulsive. This film is an indescribable masterpiece -and I don't say that lightly.Don't miss out on this one if you are a Horror, Thriller or SciFi fan.It is truly rare these days to find a film that encompasses completely original ideas, so when a film such as The Corridor comes along it is a true surprise and refreshing blessing. All I can say to the Cast and Crew is...Thank You for something truly original! |
The real terror in The Corridor is more subversive than the obvious antagonist... (by info-347-916579) |
The Corridor is an interesting film as horror films go. Even as a small film it is undeniable that it is a creature of ambitious efforts. Fortunately, these efforts pay off to the tune of delivering the audience a disturbing and rare portrayal of what happens when the extraordinary brings out the unusual and ultimately the worst in a group of friends whose circle is dangerously close to splintering from very real pressures of the earthly kind. The Corridor follows 5 men whose boyhood friendships have persisted into adulthood and who individually are still struggling to find their places in the <more> |
dramatic journey with fantasy and horror twists (by nikkif610) |
This movie was amazing. I thought all the actors gave very strong performances. The subject matter can be disturbing at times but even when fantastical elements are introduced you believe what is happening. The viewer's reality is merged with the characters' world and their fight to survive is ours too. What does it mean to be crazy? How can we ever be sure that what we are seeing is real? When do you have to stop trusting your friends? How quickly can you turn on those that you care about the most? How can humans survive something much larger than themselves? At first I was worried <more> |
Sharp Indie Horror (by huntingbear82) |
I just finished this movie and was very impressed. I prefer my horror to have a build up. It's easy to introduce a bunch of half-dressed teenagers and then have the guy with the ax kill them all off. It's not so easy to show some patience and let the audience get to know the characters before putting them through hell and that is exactly what this movie does. By the time things start to get rough-and believe me, they do-you actually kind of care about what happens to everyone. There are a few parts here and there where the lower budget starts to show itself but overall, I thought it <more> |
A Weekend Get together Goes Terribly Wrong When There is an Encounter With an Unexplained Light Entity (by terryq50) |
What would happen if the switch that keeps us from bludgeoning the next passerby we encounter on the street was turned off and we reverted to a more feral existence albeit still convinced we were of a rational mind? In Evan Kelly's The Corridor, 5 friends encounter an entity, a something? and what begins as a Big Chill type get together becomes an unstoppable nightmare all playing out in the banal everyday-ism of a small cabin in the woods. The Corridor is an intelligent film that asks its audience to engage with it rather than be spoon fed a sequence of Peckinpahesque scenes of gratuitous <more> |
An effective and ambitious indie thriller (by luke_51034) |
Going in blind to a movie like this can really only heighten the experience. I knew about the film prior to seeking it out and while not exactly what I was expecting I have to say I felt pleasantly surprised by what I actually saw. Watching the first half of the film there was no way I could have sat with a straight face and tell you how this was going to end. THE CORRIDOR is anchored by not one, not two, not three, not four but five strong performances and a script full of shocks and surprises that range from disturbing to darkly comedic. Some movies portray madness through watching a single <more> |
High Quality Indie Chiller (by graeme-206-255002) |
The formula has been used before. However, the formula when used properly, yields little gems once in a while, and this little gem shines through in a sea of mediocrity in the thriller/horror genre.Evan Kelly has taken Josh Macdonald's story and given us a brilliant insight into the world of perceived mental illness, and whilst the reality isn't always this graphic, at times, the illness affects everyone, and with very differing results.Kelly crafts the story so carefully through the beginning of the film, that you are sucked in almost immediately, emotions struggling as you don't <more> |
