Dark Tide will change the tides for you. I love Halle Berry. (by tbills2)
I promise I love sharks plus films about the coast line and Halle Berry. You learn a lot about sharks when you watch this movie with Halle, Halle Berry. You really do. I love Halle Berry. I really, really do. I love her voice, and I love the opening scene in this too, when Halle's being all cute and all sexy and so sweet in her beautifully orange bluish colored bikini top, you know, this Halle Berry shark movie with Halle Berry, my favorite actress ever/Catwoman who's wearing skintight diving gear throughout plus its cape location with the really pretty sunny scenery plus it's an <more>
animal movie all about sharks plus its African setting on the beautiful ocean seashore also all those cool, uniquely shot underwater shark interactions and on their turf too, ten stars out of ten stars my dear, true, close and considerate friend, and though this fascinating shark flick's really no more than a six, rates nothing less than a four, and so clearly, as clearly as the beaming light piercing the wavy glistening watery surface reflective through the deep and bountiful endless beautiful blue sea high up from above, I rate this a five, out of ten, stars, clearly. I LOVE Halle Berry!I was really excited to eventually see this when I first read back 'round 2012 that Halle was doing it, and I thought it'd wind up being pretty good, you know, however, it never really lives up to my own personal and loving and considerate fair standard of being the best Halle Berry fan ever created but it's pretty boring and slow at times but there's really too much loafing around and not enough dialogue but Halle makes it all the worth while. I love this movie and I love Halle. I wish she was a little sexier in it, like, she has that one particular really awesome scene in this where she's walking along side the railing of the boat in her sexy little jean shorts and high socks but it's relatively enormously, terrifyingly and pretty stupid to film this whole film with Halle Berry, Catwoman, and to not even shoot one single little itty-bitty sexy scene with Halle, the hottest woman that ever existed, in like a hot swimwear two-piece or something...like maybe a shark attack scene where sweet Halle gets her poor little leg stuck in some underwater netting or something while in her really sexy hot swimsuit you know and then like, the shark's like, coming to get her so she has to squirm around a lot like a giant fish to untangle herself free you know before cutting the netting just in time before the big shark eats her so then Halle emerges out of the water onto the deck of the back of the boat like the beautiful, one of a kind, perfect, cute-faced, gaspingly gorgeous true-hearted pure beauty that she is, like in her hot two-piece I'm thinking, and then like she's all scared and stuff at this point and breathing heavily and soaking wet 'cuz she was just in the ocean and the shark was just trying to kill her you know, now she's all panicking and jumping around and stuff and grabbing other people on the rickety boat clearly all frightened in desperate need of consolement, dripping wet in a bikini. This didn't live up to the standard and I'm definitely keeping this previous sentence in this review 'cuz that's great writing, bud.I love Halle Berry!! Lol! I really do. I hope Halle's happy. I really, truly love this movie, D-a-r-k T-i-d-e Dark Tide so much! Halle's really hot in it omg she's so hot in it. Dark Tide uses too dark a camera lens filter filming though. I can't see Halle! Or anything else for that matter, as much as I want to. It's a little bit dim I see. Why isn't Berry more predominantly in this film, Dark Tide? There shouldn't be a single second without her onscreen. I love her so much. She's the most beautiful woman ever and she's the best reason to watch this sea-lovers tale about sharks, plus for all its beautiful water and shark scenery. Why the hell is the guy from Unfaithful in this?? What's his face. God, I love Halle Berry. Is she single? I think so. Just playing. I love Halle Berry. Sharks are beautiful animals and I know you shouldn't fear them but I have zero personal experience around sharks in the water so this movie really helps with that plus it's so scenic and relaxing too, and even though I really, really love animals, I've never been shark diving before but that would be totally really, really totally really awesome someday, to do. I love you Halle. I love this movie, Dark Tide. I love Halle Berry.i LoVe HaLLe BeRRy. Dark Tide is really worth watching but not TOO great. I love Halle Berry. That's really my favorite sentence to type so in that spirit - I love Halle Berry. I love Halle Berry. And one more time for the sake of Halle Berry from me, I really love you Halle Berry.
This film is a masterpiece.The movie is set in Cape Town, South Africa that instantly creates a totally different atmosphere than the pearl sand beaches you are used to in well known shark movies Jaws, Open Water, 47 m down etc. . So the location alone adds a dark suggestive feeling to the movie: grayish skies, hordes of moaning seals, outragous waves.Characters are built up gradually as the story progresses. The drama evolves progressively over the film keeping up the tension even without actual shark bites in every 10 mins. Quarrels on the boat feel so realistic, so involving that you feel <more>
like you are one of the perplexed members of the crew.The photography is simply beautiful. The camera fluently traverses through the underwater kelp forests following sharks and seals with astonshing close-ups of these magnificent sea creatures. This film puts the wet suit on the viewer. : All in all this is a masterpiece. For me the best shark movie of all. Its only "fault" maybe is that it does not follow the usual Hollywood clichés.Well underrated, highly recommended!
Like An Episode of Shark Week! (by robbycornateanu)
My girlfriend and I, who are huge fan's of Discovery Channels yearly Shark Week, watched this movie Dark Tide despite all the bad reviews.. and our shark instincts were dead-on! This is actually the best Hollywood movie to ever come out on sharks! Every other movie about sharks, from Jaws to all the other silly horror flicks about sharks to the even sillier Sharknado, #1 don't show any real sharks just fake ones whereas this Film shows real breath-taking Great White sharks in the open ocean - the filmmakers very own actual footage on location in the shark-infested South Africa, <more>
& #2 all the other shark movies just perpetuate the same misconceptions about sharks, whereas this is like an episode of Discovery's Shark Week, except its delivered from within a Film plot starring Halle Berry and her BF Olivier Martinez both of whom do a good job . In addition, all the reviewers are completely ignorant to what this movie is really about... they're obviously not Shark Week fans, because if they were, they would realize that this movie Dark Tide is really about the amazingly spiritual & break-thru shark research done by Mike Rutzen who is also known as the Sharkman, whom this movie credits at the end who on one of the best episodes of Shark Week a couple years ago showed that these apex predators also are creatures that need to give & receive nurture & affection; and he even not just swims but also plays and like literally is cuddled by many different species of "deadly" sharks, including Great Whites, like as if they were cats or dogs snuggling next to their human owners. So this movie is loosely based on Mike Rutzen his videos actually way supercede this movie , a true scientist and biologist and nature-lover at least in the opinion of this scientist and human M.D. trauma surgeon;
I am a little perplexed by the low ratings but the question is what does one expect from a Shark movie. People have compared it with the deep blue sea but this movie would trounce the former hands down. Probably the best shark movie after Jaws.Extremely impressive camera work. True did'nt get the goose bumps but was treated to an amazing photography especially the larger shark shots in the Shark Alley. Halle Barry looked a little woody in the beginning but then came into her own as he movie progresses. Oliver Martinez was impressive though and could do with some meaty roles. This movie <more>
Totally Underrated, a very good thriller, realistic & believable story (by johnptomai)
If Great White Sharks thrill you and you like Ocean stories you will enjoy this one. Ignore the poor ratings, I did and Im glad. The story is realistic, unlike others like "Deep Blue Sea" this one is not a Hollywood exaggeration. Cimatography is excellent in Dark Tide. If you fear the idea of swimming with Great White Sharks out in the open ocean of South Africa, you will be biting your nails and holding your seat. The night shots are especially scary -and all done by situational context -not CGI or gross exaggerations. -I almost had to Fast Forward through the night scenes because <more>
I was so on edge. The character drama and the relationships between the characters was well developed. Acting was excellent. What else would you expect from Holly Berry and Oliver Martinez? I am literally 1 Hour and 28 Minutes into the movie where the final climax is about to start, when it hit me that this movie deserves a GOOD review. No way its a 4.3 rating. If you like Ocean thrillers, based on realistic plot then check this one out, you wont be disappointed.
It seems that a lot of people who review films in here try to make themselves sound clever and copy terms used by movie critics. But judging this film on it's merits rather what others say they think I loved it. Probably the most realistic shark movie I have seen let's face it Jaws looked like a fake shark and only the great acting saved it how they managed to film some of the sequences is beyond me especially the one where the guy near the beginning holds the Sharks nose and then gets killed. Now a word about the criticism of the lovely Halle Berry. These idiots saying she <more>
can't act, looks to glamorous etc are way off the mark in my opinion. In truth she would still look gorgeous if she had been dragged through a bush, but I don't think there was any attempt by her to look overly glam. She had me convinced and looked exactly the way I would expect her too. In the water she was amazing unless that was a stunt double swimming? OK the story had holes but so did Jaws and many other films like this but it was tense and had me on the edge of my seat at times. The only downside was the rather abrupt ending.
